Opticut is a concrete structure designed by Asbjørn Søndergaard and built with the help of a large team of computational design and fabrication enthusiasts. The project was exhibited in Aarhus Havn in the summer of 2018.
At the time it was called the most advanced concrete structure built in Denmark so far (2018) - and one which could not have happened without robots. Opticut is an experimental wall/pavilion which uses topology optimization for concrete and digital fabrication for mold production. I helped with the geometry generation of EPS and MDF molds and their fabrication, and spent a month in Aarhus in the summer of 2017 with some very cool people.
This project has been popularized a lot f.x. on ArchDaily.
