This collection of images was developed as part of the project Sonoid (Making sound visible and tangible).
The following images are (a) 3D interpretations of 2D Chladni patterns, as developed during the workshop on digital fabrication I conducted with my Art&Technology students, described here and (b) renderings of a collection of 3D Chaldni patterns, as described by Skrodzki, M., Reitebuch, U., & Polthier, K. (2016). Chladni Figures Revisited: A Peek Into The Third Dimension. I used an evolutionary algorithm to generate a large design space of 3D Chaldni patterns in order to better understand their aesthetics and to see which of them would be good candidates for digital fabrication.
